Super heroes will be the theme of this year’s summer events for children at the Ruth Keeler Memorial Library, 276 Titicus Rd. in North Salem. The program will run throughout July and into August with events such as a book club, a creature exhibition and a library sleepover.
The season begins at 2-3:30 p.m. on July 11 with a Summer Reading Kick-Off Adventure Party. Kids of all ages are encouraged to wear the costume of their favorite super hero.
The “I Survived” Summer Book Club is designed for kids in third-through-fifth grades. The group will read Lauren Tarshis’ series entitle “I Survived” at 4 p.m. on July 8 and 22 and on Aug. 5 and 19. Space is limited.
Ruth Keeler Memorial will host its Annual Summer Sleepover at the Library from 7 p.m. to 9:30 a.m. on July 17. The evening is open to kids from kindergarten to fifth grade with a parent. Parents are asked to register in advance.
Jen Armbruster will host Artist Trading Card Day from 2-6 p.m. on July 16. Kids ages eight –and-older are encouraged to stop by and “make it, take it or trade it.”
Kids over five years old can create an edible Fly Guy and other fun stuff at the Fly Guy Festival from 2-3:30 on July 25.
Dr. Deborah Mumford will bring her creatures to the library for an all-ages show at 4 p.m. on July 30. Known as the “Critter Lady,” Mumford has 30 years’ experience as an educator, writer and naturalist.
